Biennale Cinema 2024 - Photo Diary - Wall of Scathing Review at the 81st Venice International Film Festival

During the Venice International Film Festival, a wall comes up where people can stick reviews of their films and the best scathing review wins the “Codacons Cup Prize” given out by the festival director Alberto Barbera.

In my four years attending the festival, this wall is one of my highlights. It’s always very amusing to read people’s reactions to the films, the festival and complaints about anything else, including Alberto Barbera. Nothing seems to get pulled down or censored, every film, actor, director and even the festival director is fair game.

Hats off to the people posting Free Palestine, which led to written responses on the same pages saying things like '‘no politics here’, and further written reponses showing even more support for Palestine.

Below is a selection of photos I took and you can see some of the Free Palestine text and the additional writing on the same pages that appeared during the days of the festival.

I had so many photos on my phone, so I decided to create a post just to show these photos.
