Visual Culture Club at Hobb - Edition 4
A new season of Visual Culture Club returns on Sunday, January 5 at Hobb.
I’m very grateful to Haifa Malhas, founder of Hobb for giving me the space to do this, and for supporting the idea of having thoughtful and critical discussions about visual culture in Dubai and beyond. She always joins the discussions and I appreciate her reflections on the images she shares with the group.
The next one will be the fourth edition and if you’re in Dubai, please can join us.
Visual Culture Club - Edition 4
Date and timings: Sunday, January 5, 11.00am-12.00pm
Location: Hobb Design & Visual Culture Bookshop, Al Safa 1, Wasl Square, Block 4, Dubai (location map)
The 4th edition of Visual Culture Club will focus on images that stood out for you in 2024, something you loved or made you uncomfortable. It can include photos, artworks, memes, news footage, film scenes or anything else that caught your attention.
Bring your image(s) printed on paper (or print it at Hobb) to have a group discussion about why it stood out for you, and what kind of images make us pause in an age of visual overstimulation.
Led by Hind Mezaina, Visual Culture Club is a gathering to look, touch and talk about images printed on paper, and a break from scrolling on digital screens.
Free to attend. Register here.
