Trailer Tuesday - Academy Awards Nomination for Best Foreign Language Film of the Year

The list of nominations for the 83rd Academy Awards was announced a short while ago. Whilst all the attention is on Best Film, Best Actor, Actress and Director, I will focus on the Best Foreign Language Film category.

I was really hoping Life of Fish by Matías Bize, a wonderful film from Chile would have been nominated, but alas, it wasn't. Here's the list for Best Foreign Language Film of the year:

Biutiful (Mexico)
Dogtooth (Greece)
In a Better World (Denmark)
Incendies (Canada)
Outside the Law (Algeria)

Congratulations to Mexico, Greece, Denmark, Canada and Algeria for the nominations this year. I'm happy to say that all of the films, except for Dogtooth from Greece were screened at recent film festivals in the Gulf (In a Better World and Incendies were at the Abu Dhabi Film Festival and Outside the Law at the Doha Tribeca Film Festival last October; Biutiful at the Dubai International Film Festival last December).

I've only seen In a Better World, it already won a Golden Globe for Best Foreign Film over a week ago, so it will be interesting to see who will win the Oscar.
