RIP Peter Falk
Woke up this morning to the passing away of Peter Falk. I used to watch Colombo as a child and I think to everyone that loved him, he will forever be loved and remembered for his role as Lieutenant Colombo. His shabby coat, his famous line 'One more thing' and his humming of 'This old man' are some of the Peter Falk touches that make Colombo such a classic show.
Besides Colombo, Peter Falk acted in many films including A Woman Under the Influence, The In-Laws, The Princess Bride and Wings of Desire. Read more about Peter Falk's career in this article from the New York Times, Peter Falk, Rumpled and Crafty Actor in Television’s ‘Columbo,’ Dies at 83.
As I was trying to find clips to for the blog, I found these scenes from The Dean Martin Show. I've seen them before, so instead of sharing clips from Colombo, I decided to share these instead. I love the parts where Peter Falk is holding himself from laughing out loud.
If you have 30 minutes to spare, listen to this BBC documentary, "Just One More Thing: Colombo".
Mark Billingham recalls the award-winning American TV detective series Columbo, which broke every rule, including identifying the villain in the opening scene, but remained hugely popular. Contributors include star Peter Falk, creator William Link, writer Steven Bochco, director Jonathan Demme and guest star villain Robert Vaughn.
