RIP Lime Tree Cafe JUmeirah

I was sad to find out Lime Tree Cafe in Jumeirah closed earlier this month. Had I known, I would have gone for at least one last time to have a coffee and a slice of their famous carrot cake.

Lime Tree Cafe is one of the early neighbourhood cafes in Dubai. It opened Launched in 2001 in a converted villa on Jumeirah Beach Road. Today there are multiple neighbourhood cafes stretched across several roads in Jumeirah, but it all started with Lime Tree Cafe.

Finding out a month later is also indicative of how local news don’t cover news like this, they are only interested in writing about venues that are “instagrammable”.

I have lots of memories spending time there with friends - catching up, laughing and sometimes crying. It had a lovely outdoor seating area in a garden. I need to go through my archive to find photos I’ve taken there.

Whilst there are SEVEN other branches across Dubai, none can be compared or replace the charms and atmosphere of the one in Jumeirah.

RIP Lime Tree Cafe, Jumeirah.

This was posted on their Instagram account on February 19:

Thank you for an incredible 24years at our Jumeirah 1 location. This flagship location has been a hub for friends, families, & the Dubai Community that we have been so happy to serve & welcome. ☕️
Its where our journey began & where we created & launched our homegrown brand, 🌳& of course started baking our iconic Carrot 🥕 Cake, Brownies etc

We have decided it’s time to move on from Jumeirah, & as the city of Dubai has grown tremendously, we will continue to grow with it across Dubai.
As we approach our last 2 weekends…
We will close our doors finally, at: 6.30pm on Sunday March 2nd.

Until then - its business as usual, we hope to see you popping in for that last coffee!

We want to express our deepest gratitude to all our loyal customers. Thank you for consciously making the decision to visit us, & support us as we have grown & continue to do so, over these years.

We look forward to welcoming you at our other 6 branches…
