Reverend and the Makers at The Music Room on 4th October 2013
I found out last night Reverend and the Makers will be playing live in Dubai, tonight at The Music Room. Quite a random act to come to Dubai, their last top 10 hit in the UK Singles Chart, Heavyweight Champion of the Worldwas in 2007, and I only know them for that one song (they've had a few top 10 hits in the UK Indie Charts).
I looked up some of their other songs for this blogpost, and it's a bit of hit and miss. Some of it is dancey, TimeOut Dubai describes their music as "a mix of indie guitar pop, electronica and a touch of Madchester-esque funk." - and since we don't get many live indie acts coming to Dubai, I will most probably go to this. They will be supported by the Dubai based rock band Sandwash.
I must say, the one thing that stood out for me about Reverend and the Makers when I was researching them was this article about a Twitter spat between the band's lead singer Jon McClure and Calvin Harris. Love it when celebrities make a scene of themselves on Twitter. In fact, looks like Jon McClure is a bit of a wreck on Twitter. Just hope he's better to watch live than following him on Twitter.
Here's a little taste of the band's music:
