Ma3azef Symposium on Arabic Music at Sharjah Art Foundation
Sharjah Art Foundation is hosting a weekend of music performances and a symposium about Arabic music on April 5 and 6.
It is part of the Sharjah Biennial 14 pubic programming and a collaboration with Ma3azef, an online music magazine dedicated to the critique and analysis of contemporary and classical Arabic music.
The Ma3azef Symposium on Arabic Music will feature more than 20 writers, critics and musicians to address questions pertaining to Arabic music today, including the development of an Arabic music dictionary, the challenges faced by independent and alternative music scenes, and the role of modern history on recent transformations in Arabic music, among other critical issues.
The Music Weekend with Ma3azef performances will include the musician duo Kamilya Jubran and Werner Hasler, DJ set with $$$TAG$$$ (pronounced Tag Money), and Re|sound III, a film screening in dialogue with live music performances - this edition will feature the film Rahhala (Lujain Rakadh, 2017) with a live performance by experimental artists from the region.
