George Steinmetz - Empty Quarter aerial art exhibition
Herd of camels cross the sandy gravels of the Empty Quarter on their way to graze near Wadi Mitan
Kashta Gallery, a new gallery in the Jumeirah Emirates Towers, is launching with its first exhibition by world renowned aerial landscape photographer George Steinmetz called The Empty Quarter.
Curated by arabianEye, the opening night is on 15th Feb and will run till 5th Mar. Steinmetz will be attending the opening night and signing his recently published book, "The Empty Quarter".
The Empty Quarter (in Arabic Al Rub'al Khali - الربع الخالي) is one of the largest sand deserts in the world, covering most of the southern part of the Arabian Peninsula, including southern Saudi Arabia, areas of Oman, United Arab Emirates and Yemen (more than the combined areas of Holland, Belgium and France).
At this exhibition, you will see images from this vast area - all shot from the harness of a motorized paraglider flying hundreds, sometimes thousands of feet above the ground.
Steinmetz offers stunning images of the desolate yet beautiful landscape, the region’s nomadic people, their unique customs and its resilient wildlife that few have ever seen.
We don't get to see that many images from the Empty Quarter and especially from this perspective, so if you like your National Geographic style photography and desertscapes, this exhibition is for you.
Kashta Gallery location: Upper Level, Boulevard at Jumeirah Emirates Towers
