Sharjah Art Foundation Film Screening - Cabaret Crusades: The Horror Show File and Cabaret Crusades: The Path to Cairo
The latest film screenings hosted by Sharjah Art Foundation will show two of Wael Shawky's films, Cabaret Crusades: The Horror Show File and Cabaret Crusades: The Path to Cairo, to conclude Wael Shawky's exhbition Horsemen Adore Perfumes and other stories.
The free screening will take place in the outdoor Mirage City Cinema in the Sharjah Art Foundation Art Spaces.
Cabaret Crusades: The Horror Show File
Inspired by Amin Maalouf’s The Crusades Through Arab Eyes written in 1986, Cabaret Crusades: The Horror Show File offers a view on the history of the Crusades, retracing events that unfolded over a period of four years (1096-1099) and played a key role in subsequent historical developments, shaking to the core the Arab world and its relations with the West.

Cabaret Crusades: The Path to Cairo
A mythical interpretation of the second phase of religiously sanctioned military expeditions by Western Christianity toward Jerusalem and the Holy Land. This musical film transforms the script which is inspired by Amin Maalouf’s writings into lyrics sung by choirs of both children and adults using Bahraini pearl fishing musical traditions.
