Dubai Walks - Festival City

Dubai Festival City is a commercial and residential block that consists of a mall, hotels, residential apartments and villas, and also a school. Parts of it overlooks the creek, making it one of the better parts of Dubai that is away from the usual busy mall areas like Dubai Mall, Mall of the Emirates, Marina Mall, Jumeirah Beach Residence.

Earlier this month, I walked along the waterside outside the mall and took these photos. The area is open to the public and there’s something comforting about that because public spaces in Dubai are shrinking, being replaced by commercial building projects.

There’s nothing fantastic or special about these photos, but I was amused by what I found along the walk., especially the number of abandoned shopping carts.
