Best thing in 2010 so far - The Trololo Man

The Trololo Man is my favourite story of 2010 so far, and I love that there is a site dedicated to him and this song, the wonderfully titled, www.trololololololololololo.com.

This tune has been on my mind for a while, even whilst I'm at work in meetings, I've got the trololo tune on my mind and I'm worried I will start singing it out loud when I shouldn't.

Eduard Khil is the Trololo Man and he's gaining popularity around the world and there's even a petition for him to go on a world tour. I found this quote, a translation from a Russian article which explains the backstory to this song. (If anyone Russian reading this thinks this is incorrect, please let me know).

There is a backstory about this song. Originally, we had lyrics written for this song but they were poor. I mean, they were good, but we couldn't publish them at that time. They contained words like these: "I'm riding my stallion, so-and-so mustang, and my beloved Mary is thousand miles away knitting a stocking for me". Of course, we failed to publish it at that time, and we, Arkady Ostrovsky and I, decided to make it a vocalisation. But the essence remained in the title. Yes, it's a little silly – it has no lyrics, so we had to make up something for people would listen to it, and so this was an interesting arrangement.  Eduard Khil, Life News (Russian)

Watch this video of Eduard Khil's reaction to the different parodies of himself. He has a great sense of humour and it's just delightful to see him laughing along and making funny comments.

He is now asking people to contribute lyrics to the song - which deep down I don't want to happen. I'm just happy listening to trololololololololololo...

I love the interweb....
