Afternoon tea and a film screening
The recently opened RSTW exhibition at the Manarat Al Saadiyat in Abu Dhabi (running till 24th January 2011) has a great line up of talks, workshops and film screenings over the next few months.
On Wednesday, 6th October, there will be an evening of ‘Artful Afternoon Tea’ where you can enjoy a cup of tea (and coffee I hope), an artful snack, a tour of the RSTW exhibition, plus an opportunity to make a work of art inspired by the art you´ve just seen in. This will be followed by the screening of Painters Painting: The New York Art Scene: 1940-1970 by Emile de Antonio.
Released in 1973, it’s a documentary on the New York School of painters from 1940-1970. Emile de Antonio interviews artists in their studios about their art from the period of Abstract Expressionism, through Hard Edge and Color Field painting to Pop Art. Among the featured painters are Robert Rauschenberg, William de Kooning, Jasper Johns, Andy Warhol, Helen Frankenthaler, Frank Stella, Barnett Newman, Hans Hoffman, Jules Olitski, Philip Pavia, Larry Poons, Robert Motherwell, and Kenneth Noland.
This sounds like it will be a delightful evening, hope to see a lot of art lovers there.
