Imaginary Views

During the first couple of weeks in October, I kept seeing billboard ads everywhere in Dubai of a new development called Oceans by Danube Properties with the tag line “Wake up to this view everyday”, the view being a clear blue sea and a bright blue sky with fluffy clouds. And by everywhere, I mean everywhere. I spotted this ad in various sizes  everywhere I went whilst driving during. The photo above was taken by me when I was waiting at a traffic light.

Besides wondering what the media budget was for this campaign, I also asked myself where exactly is this view?
Any beach I go to in Dubai has a view that is cluttered with construction work. I can’t remember when was the last time I looked out into the horizon and not seen any signs of construction work happening nearby. 

After looking it up online, I learned it is in “Dubai Maritime City”, “strategically located between Port Rashid & the Dubai Dry Docks”. Another site in Dubai that will be under construction for years, and a clear blue horizon will remain to be an imagination.
